COVID 19

Since March 2020 and the COVID-19 virus we were forced to close along with the rest fo the world.

We have a duty of care to the communities we work in, our volunteers and our project teams and are now taking a phased approach to reopening as travel-restrictions relax and vaccination programmes are rolled out around the world.

However we’re very happy to announce that by January 2022 all projects will be reopened and available for booking from October 2021.

As part of our COVID-19 response, we have implemented our lowest ever deposit for anyone interested in booking their trip now, for travel at a later date.

A low deposit of just USD 100 / 100 GBP / 100 Euro / AUD 100 will secure your place and fulfil your dreams of visiting Africa.

FLEXIBLE DATES

Bookings are entirely flexible. If you need to delay your trip because of COVID-19, you can do so at no extra cost for up to 2 year from date booked.

BOOKING TRANSFER

If you are unable to travel due to COVID-19, you are more than welcome to transfer your booking to a friend or family member, at no additional cost.

PRE-DEPARTURE AND ON-SITE SUPPORT
We care about our travellers and hope that each and every one of you have a safe and memorable experience with us in South Africa.
Danielle you volunteer coordinator will be on hand prior to your arrival to provide guidance on flights, visas, and the COVID-19 entry/exit requirements of your project. Once on project, you will be in the capable hands of our local and international team that will provide on-site support during your stay to ensure your health and well-being.
A negative COVID-19 test is required to leave the country or return to your home country. Our teams have located testing centres near to our projects and have confirmed turnaround times, and will ensure you meet any testing requirements prior to your departure.

OUR HEALTH AND SAFETY STANDARDS

Our local and international team members have been trained on new standards of cleanliness, as well as internationally recommended norms and behaviours.

A designated You2Africa team member (Health Officer) will provide a thorough Induction and Orientation upon arrival. This will cover specific COVID-19 safety protocols, information and procedures.

All volunteers will be required to provide proof of having taken a COVID-19 test prior to joining a project (preferably within 72 hours of arrival). A test may be required by your country of residence, airline or at any airport you depart, transit through or arrive in.

The maximum number of volunteers allowed on our projects has been reduced to allow for adequate social distancing, both on projects and in the volunteer houses.

Everyone will be required to wear face masks (wherever possible), wash hands frequently with sanitizer or soap, and to respect social distancing at all times.

Alcohol-based hand sanitizer will always be available in the volunteer houses, in vehicles, and at project sites.

Our cleaning team have increased the frequency of disinfecting public areas, bedrooms, and bathrooms, as well as vehicles and project resources.

Our chefs follow strict health and safety guidelines during the preparation and presentation of meals.
